The Happy Gilmore 2 Trailer Has Dropped and I’m Back In My Happy Place

Happy Gilmore 2

Look, I have to admit, I’m not a big movie guy. Most of the time when I get dragged into watching something new by the people I’m with, I end up deeply regretting my life choices and I think of ways that I can get out of that situation as fast as I possibly can.

Honestly, I don’t think I’m the problem, I just think that 99% (at least) of movies out there absolutely blow. I’m at the point where I pretty much just watch the same movies over and over again because I can rarely find anything new that I like. That’s also why I almost exclusively watch TV shows now. Committing 2-3 hours to something that may end up completely shitting the bed is not the way I like to spend my free time after a hard day’s work of writing about and playing video games all day.

BUT… Happy Gilmore 2, on the other hand, is a film that I will be happy to drop any amount of time necessary to watch.

I haven’t seen the first Happy Gilmore in over a decade (fuck I’m old), but I remember it being one of the best Adam Sandler movies out there. And if the second one can deliver like that one, movies might be so back. And I don’t say that lightly.

This trailer tugged at the strings and sent me back to my childhood. I think it was masterfully done. It must have unlocked at least 4-5 core memories that were buried deep. Seeing everyone from the cast of the original was nothing short of magical.

There has been a big debate on the internet lately about whether or not movie studios should continue to lean super heavily into “universes” and prequels rather than one off films. This trailer has reaffirmed my strong and correct opinion that universes are the future of cinema, and we as movie watchers should embrace the movement with open arms.

If you disagree, well then trouble me for a warm glass of shut the hell up.
